🚨Sad old man rant alert🚨 Bought Mare Vitalis when it came out in 2000, one of the first CDs I bought when I moved to my new town. I loved this song but only a few years back, fuelled by nostalgia and loneliness, when it really started hitting me like no other song ever did in my entire life. I grew up by the sea, and left to live in a big city in my early 20’s. Every line in the song hits home. Every. Line. It's unbelievably autobiographical for me. It saddens me, 24 years later, that the ‘’trade’’ I made was wrong. I miss everyone, the sea, the beach, the warm salt air, the sunsets, the fires, and the fair in the park by the sea 💔 But as long as my memory works, they are never gone.

Flynn was a very young & inexperienced actor when he was signed for Captain Blood. He greatly improved as the filming progressed. Warner Brothers was impressed enough to reshoot some of Errol’s first filmed scenes because of his improvement

Both of my Dads older brothers fought in WWII but Dad wasn’t accepted, even though he wanted to go. He always said it was because he had flat feet but I think it can’t help but wonder if it was due to the Sullivan Act. Dad felt so guilty, even though his brothers eventually returned home. RIP to the Sullivan boys and all others who have died fighting for our freedom. 😢🇺🇸

It's amazing how the captain of the ship is a handsome, clean shaven young man, and all the crew are grubby looking slobs. I guess the captain is the only one on board with his own shaver, hair dresser, and costume maker. Ah yes, those were the days when movies were swash buckling, adventures filled with realistic scenery, and mannerisms.

“Captain Blood” is one of Errol Flynn’s best swashbucklers. Easily superior to the special effects slop we get from Disney today. The effeminate, mascara laden Depp is a sorry excuse for a pirate.
